Hi Alexandra, I chose Tax because I enjoyed studying Law and Economics at Uni and I felt Tax Advisory would cater to these skills. I should say though that there is so much variety within Tax, and I'm sure within Audit, so it is difficult to describe what 'tax' is like. I work on advising companies and individuals how to plan their affairs in order to pay the correct amount of tax. This is about understanding the law and communicating solutions to clients. Audit seems to be more analytical, whereas my role is more research-based.

Hi Alexandra, I chose tax over audit for a few reasons. I wanted to specialize into a specific area and felt tax would offer me better opportunities to make this happen. I wanted to base myself on an international setting to provide me future opportunities to move across the world but remain within my area. I studies accounting at uni and really did not like the audit course. I enjoy the puzzle solving element of tax where finding the correct workaround can help your client in the long run
Also - if you join either program, you will likely get exposure to both Tax and Audit through studying for your professional accountancy exams

Thanks so much for your responses, the insight is very helpful. Would you say that certain times of the year within tax at EY have much heavier workloads?

Both Tax and Audit have busy seasons relating to the different financial deadlines. But even during the busy seasons, there is always a lot of support available. I don't think either Service Line has heavier or lighter workloads over the course of the whole year - so I wouldn't base your decisions between the two on this.
To help decide between the service lines, you can use the Pathfinder quiz which can provide some guidance: https://assessment.weareamberjack.com/?sjtId=7e2a6ebe-c6d7-ea11-80eb-0050568b1d87&clientId=260b88ae-d101-e811-80ea-005056ac24ff
