Jessica I.
tax advisor
I researched all the services lines that EY had to offer and found that tax had the most variation in terms of the work that you could do.
It also appeared to be the service line which had so many different opportunities and areas to specialise in.
Having worked with my dad as an accountant, although I enjoyed the work it wasn't what I wanted to continue into and after reading about the different offerings in tax I knew that this sounded a better fit for me.
My role is within Global Mobility whereby I provide tax advice and compliance services to employers and employees with regards to employees moving on assignments from one country to another or on regular short business trips.
The work is varied and enables you to work on a global scale. I am in contact with foreign offices regularly to discuss how an individual's travel can create tax and compliance obligations for both the individual and their employer. We then work with their employer to review their travel and manage how to best reduce the future impact of their situation.
There is a consistency in the work that I do which I love. I work on the same clients, with the same teams in my department and am able to create great relationships and see how my career can grow.
Although we visit the client and other team members in other offices, the travel is less frequent then you may see in Audit which was a positive for me too.
