Actuarial Graduate
Hi Hamza,
I did a 6-week summer internship in business consulting between my third and forth years at university (I did an integrated masters in Physics). I managed to get on a client project for 4 of my 6 weeks and for the remaining time I was supporting the actuarial team with non-chargeable work.
After spending time with the actuarial team and learning more about what they did, I decided that I would be able to apply more of the technical knowledge from my degree to an actuarial role than I would in a core business consulting role. This meant that I had to go through another interview after receiving my graduate offer and that I was at risk of losing my existing offer if my interview didn't go well.
Since joining as a life actuarial graduate in 2019, I have been involved in some general insurance and life insurance audits. I've also worked on a large project with the consulting team that I worked with whilst on my summer internship. More recently, I have been working with the life insurance actuarial team in the Bermuda office to support some of their work with reinsurers.
I have also been working towards my IFoA qualification and have passed 5/13 exams which EY have provided study and exam support for.
Please let me know if there's anything more specific that you're interested in.
