I studied Accounting & Finance at the University of Liverpool
I did an Audit placement so I knew after I graduated, Audit was the career I wanted to pursue.
I enjoyed working within Audit as I got a real insight into how companies operate in different industries and I got to work in collaborative environments and was able to meet lots of different people!
I also worked as an Accounts Assistant giving me further experience into the world of Professional Services and I was able to brush up on my technical accounting knowledge.
I then started my role at EY as a Audit Associate in September 2022 on the Graduate Scheme.
I'm an Audit Associate based at EY Liverpool
I work as an Auditor in the Liverpool office. I started in September 2022 and have been working at EY for 13 months now. I've loved working at EY and have learnt so much in the time I've been here.
I've worked on a variety of different clients around the North West from the planning to the completion stage of the Audit and have gotten a real insight into how the clients operate.
With the graduate scheme, I've also been working towards my professional qualification with ICAEW to become a chartered accountant.
I enjoy working with different teams and a variety of clients
My favorite thing are the opportunities I have to learn and getting to work on interesting clients and having exposure to both small and listed clients.
As this is a client facing role, I interact with people within and outside EY helping me develop my people management skills.
From these interactions as well as the many fun socials EY put on, it's easy to build a great network of people.
Play to your strengths and stay true to yourself
Preparation is the key to a successful job hunt. Before you start applying, set out what your job goals are, what your strengths are, as this will influence the sort of roles you'll look for.
These skills will then be the ones you highlight on your CV/Cover letter. I'd recommend getting in touch with your careers advisors for them to help you on this if you're unsure.
If you find a job you think suits you, research more about the firm and their values to see if you're a good fit for them and if they're a good fit for you!
I'd then research the interview process and then practice and practice the application steps before you do it for real!
Completing 12/15 ICAEW exams
I've almost completed the ICAEW qualification and I only have 3 exams to go.
