I am on the Reserve List for a summer internship. How likely is it that I might get a place and when will I find out?

Hello! First of all - a huge congratulations on being offered a place on the reserve list. It’s a great achievement to have passed through the assessment centre and to have been offered a place - I was in exactly the same situation a few years ago, so I know how daunting it can be!
I can only speak from experience - in my case, EY reached out to me a few weeks after I was offered a place on the reserve list. They provided a list of areas that had capacity to give me an internship place - unfortunately, these were all too far from where I lived, and I had to choose to stay on the reserve list. I didn’t find out confirmation that I wouldn’t get an internship until quite close to the start date - the reason being that EY want to give you every possible chance in case someone drops out, chooses an alternative firm/internship, or there’s another change in circumstances. I know the wait is stressful, but in my experience the student recruitment team were good at keeping me informed.
Ultimately I didn’t get a place in the end - I thought that would be the end of things and that I would have to start looking for roles in audit without that experience. However, I got an email from EY a couple of months later offering me the chance to progress directly to the interview stage for the graduate scheme, as I had already passed the assessments and the assessment centre. As you can tell, it all worked out in the end!
I’m not entirely sure whether this is still how things are likely to work - it was a few years ago in my case. I hope things work out for you and you get the same opportunity!
