Hi Oscar, most definitely. I actually know a couple of grads and various colleagues who have come from a Law background! EY hire people from a range of degree backgrounds so you are not disadvantaged in any way as your first few years are mainly about learning the role, especially legislation and rules.

I would recommend showing EY the skills and knowledge you have gained from your Law background and how it will help you in the Tax role you apply for.

I have an Experience Day coming up on Monday, I will be going into the Tax service line, with general tax as my sub-service line. I know that I have been allocated to UK&I but, from your experience, are the sub-service lines dramatically different from each other in terms of the work that you do? What would be a good way to get a sense of these differences before Monday?

Sorry - that's sort of two questions in one there!

For the first question, I'd say the differences are quiet significant from each other. We have a wide range of teams within Tax and you will most likely get to work with them at different stages of your career.

Please take a look at the above link where you will see an overview of the tax teams

Hi Oscar, great to hear you have an Experience Day on Monday! At the Experience Day you won't be asked any questions in relation to your service line/business area so whilst it's good to know, you won't be tested on this at all

As Rhea mentioned above you are not expected to know what every single team does at this stage, so do not worry too much on this

Ah thank you for that! I've taken a look at the general areas, they are very different I can see that. I'll look into it further if I get to interview!

Do you have any final suggestions for preparing for the Experience Day? i have reflected on my strengths and weaknesses, and already have an interest in latest disruptive technologies deployed in professional services.

Sure - I would practice for the NRT again and have a think about how to write a good business email for the Challenge Zone (first assessment of the day). Also have a think about how you can work effectively in a group for the group exercise and think about your strengths but sounds like you have already done that
