Additional information

I graduated quite a few years ago (2012) in accounting but fell into a career path outside of professional services. The pandemic has brought me full circle back into considering a career in accounting, and I'd like to work towards the ACA most of all. I don't mind starting from scratch in a graduate role, however was wondering if there is alternatively any opportunity to study for an accounting qualification within an experienced hire role? Do you have any advice specific to someone in my position? Thanks!

Hi Jordaan, as far as I'm aware, the two routes to go down would be to start a graduate programme where you would be put through a training contract to get your CA qualification. Otherwise sometimes there are entry level roles through Experienced Hire in certain offices where you could do the ACCA qualification. I think Edinburgh FS and London offices have some roles but I'm not sure of the specific start dates or whether they have year-round roles or only based on business need? I'd recommend looking on the Experienced Hire section of our website to look for L1 entry level routes, and otherwise you could maybe consider applying for a graduate role. Hope this helps!

Thanks Rachel, much appreciated. I can't locate any relevant L1 roles on the experience hire section at the moment so assume this will just be one of those "wait and check back" kind of things! I've applied for a graduate role already with EY and just have a part of the assessment to finish off tonight.. fingers crossed! Thanks again for your help :)
