Picture of ACA vs. other qualifications?

ACA vs. other qualifications?

Additional information

I am currently sitting for a professional accounting qualification, the U.S. CPA examination, with only 2 exams remaining; however, I am very interested in a position within the audit graduate programme. It is my understanding that the ACA is a globally recognised qualification, which appeals greatly to me as the current qualification that I am pursuing seems to be predominantly only recognised in the United States. From an auditing professional's perspective, is there any value that comes from having multiple professional accounting qualifications, or is it redundant to pursue more than one?

Hi Morgan, I don't think it would hold much benefit to have more than one professional accounting qualification as most of these are internationally recognized standards.I do ACA, and I'd say that for me it has offered a very holistic business education which I think has benefited my career. But again, I don't think having CPA rather than ACA would hold you back.

As I am pursuing a graduate audit position, would there be a way for me to forgo sitting for the ACA qualification given I presumably will have passed the remaining sections of my CPA exam prior to my start date?

You might be able to get some exemptions from certain exams, you can check these on the ICAEW website. If you have professional experience, you might want to consider an experienced hire role in our assurance team.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (area of focus: accounting and finance), as well as a Master of Accountancy degree, both from an accredited university in the United States. Furthermore, I am currently a MBA graduate student candidate at a university in the United Kingdom. I know that my internship experience with a U.S. public accounting firm is not sufficient to qualify for an experienced hire position (the duration of which was only 3 months), so it seems that the graduate programme is my best option. Do you have any advice regarding job vacancies or which programme would be best suited for me?

If you're pursuing an MBA, you might want to consider our business consulting role or Strategy and Transactions. But consider our any of our roles. We have a pathfinder which can help choose a scheme for you https://ukcareers.ey.com/students/programmes/ey-pathfinder

Thank you, Sam for your help! I will look at the ICAEW website for exemptions and I will check out the EY pathfinder.
