Hi Sophia,
I think this would vary from person to person. But for me personally I haven't had any hurdles. Everyone within EY is very supportive and it is such an inclusive environment that it doesn't present any additional hurdles

That's great to hear and also what I already suspected!
Are you part of the Women's Network? As far as I understand it is similar to a university society where you have the chance to meet like-minded people - is this correct?

I personally am not a part of the Women's Network yet - I keep forgetting to join it! But from what I have heard it does run similarly to that yes, they run events and is a great chance for you to meet like-minded and network together. EY is very strong on inclusivity and representing women in the industry so I would certainly recommend joining it

Fantastic - do you know much about sport at EY? I joined a webinar last week and someone mentioned the fact there are some sports teams, but unfortunately I didn't get the chance to ask about it at the end.

They do have a lot of different sports societies, I think it depends on your location what sports that there are. Obviously with it being COVID at the moment a lot have been paused. There tends to be a lot of football, netball etc

Of course, I can imagine everything is a bit up in the air at the moment! Do lots of the associates and apprentices get involved?

Yeah it's certainly a strange environment to start in, but I've only had a positive experience so far. People at all levels within EY are so willing to take their time to help you if you need it, which is amazing. Yeah loads of new starters get involved with the societies as it's a great way to get to know people, and people are also excited to get to know us, so you don't feel at all out of place :)

Fab, I couldn't agree more about using societies to get to know people! Last year I was on the committee for my University Hockey Club, and I'm hoping to run again for a position next year, but I am just wondering if there are any particular committee positions that help to make an application stand out?

To my knowledge there aren't any particular positions they look for - personally I wasn't on any committees in University so I didn't have any of these to make my application to stand out. But of course it will benefit you, so I would certainly mention it! They want people that are passionate and keen to get involved, a big part of Assurance is being around and dealing with people, so anything socially is always a positive to mention
