Hi, within the apprenticeship you will be working on audit engagements, communicating with your team and clients, and building accounting/audit knowledge. You will also study towards the ACA/ICAS qualification on the side, for which you will go to college to study for your exams, which support your role at EY. At the end of your course, you would become a Chartered Accountant. Please let me know if you would like any further insight into the apprenticeship role

Thank You for your response. What are The biggest challenges you face within your job, and how do you overcome them?

I would say one of the biggest challenges is balancing study for exams and working at the same time. You get study leave for the tuition and taught revision courses, but any additional revision is done in your own time. This is challenging especially with client deadlines, however everyone is accommodating when you have exams on and making a plan for revision is the key.

Hi Ana, how long does it take to complete the ACA/ICAS qualification and how long are you in college for?

Under the apprenticeship, it's estimated to take 4 years to qualify and 3 years for graudates. However, this is heavily dependent on your individual pathway, your pass rate with exams and progress.

College for apprentices is done in blocks throughout the year before each exam, so you may spend up to a week in college at the time. As an apprentice your exams will be spaced out throughout the year. On average every couple of months but to avoid exams during busier seasons of work, sometimes they can be closer together, maybe a month or 6 weeks apart.
