Assurance Associate

Thanks for your question!

I think EY have a few key values which stand out to me - namely integrity, inclusivity, and opportunity. Firstly, integrity - we always want to do the right thing as a firm. As an Assurance Associate, I know the work I do has to meet laws and regulations, as well as ethical standards. This means that I need to give proper care and attention to my work, but also that I need to do the right thing - even if that can be difficult. EY are truly committed to this and, in addition to receiving training, you'll always be able to find colleagues who will help you arrive at the correct decision.

Secondly, inclusivity - I think EY is a firm which welcomes everyone and makes everyone feel welcome. You can join various sports clubs or networks to help you find people that share similar passions or experiences with you - but, even if that isn't your thing, there are plenty of social events that you can join. On our first day at my office, the social committee organised a drinks reception at the end of our induction training which most staff joined in with. It was a really relaxed way to meet senior staff, and helped to make us feel like we were welcomed as part of the team.

Finally, opportunity - there are so many opportunities available at EY, within and outside your role. On my first engagement, I worked alongside a major client, and have been given opportunities to learn and develop with my team. My management have been really helpful in terms of giving me a variety of tasks to help me develop, but also at explaining them to me and being available to help with any problems I've encountered. Outside of the office, there are always plenty of opportunities available - for example, I travelled to London to attend the EY student induction on my first day with the firm, and I've been able to volunteer as a Student Insider to answer your question! So, in summary, I think EY is committed to giving their staff opportunities to develop in whichever way is most important to them.
