Hi Jaya! I would say signing up to the Insight programmes and virtual events like Business Academy and Our World Your Way are a really great way to take part in case studies and hear from members of the business so you really get a feel for which team you think would suit you best! There is also the Pathfinder here (https://assessment.weareamberjack.com/?sjtId=7e2a6ebe-c6d7-ea11-80eb-0050568b1d87&clientId=260b88ae-d101-e811-80ea-005056ac24ff)
which will take you through some questions and suggest options - but its really whatever you feel like sounds most interested to you!

Senior, Tax Technology and Transformation

Hi Jaya, I completed some research online using the EY website and elsewhere to understand what each area involved. I was also lucky enough to know a few people who had joined accounting apprenticeships so I was able to ask them questions about their role and what they enjoyed about it. I think joining as a school leaver I was still uncertain that tax was the right career for me but now I'm here I know I definitely made the right choice

Assurance Business Apprentice

Hi Jaya, for me it was EYs social awareness and involvement in charity and outreach work as this is something that wasn't matched by the other big 4 to as great an extent.

Assurance Apprentice

I attended the Business Academy and took part in the Assurance workshops during the week. I enjoyed the interactive activities so I looked into Assurance more. I enjoyed Business for A-level and my favourite topic was working with financial statements. This aligned with Assurance so I knew that it was something I wanted to pursue at EY especially.

Trainee Tax Advisor

For me personally, I did a little programme EY had called Smart Futures, which had a week featuring all the different service lines that Ernst and Young featured in my local office, and we had a little insight and exercise to see exactly what each job is. I just realised I loved the looking at information and putting the right numbers in their place, so I decided to give tax a try. I did maths Alevel and knew that a math based job would be within my comfort zone.

However, a friend of mine who started along with me also started in personal tax, but then moved teams to an advisory role. So as long as you start there will always be opportunities to move around.
