EY Assurance Graduate career path

Additional information

I've accepted an offer to start as an EY Assurance graduate in the Bristol office in September of this year. I remember seeing that this would most likely start learning the audit process and associated activities. While I very much look forward to this the idea of going into financial forensics is something that currently seems very appealing. As financial forensics is under the Assurance service line is this something I'm likely to experience during my 3 year programme, and after completing it would it be possible for me to direct my career down this path?

Hi Conall - our Forensic Technology & Discovery Services Graduate Programme is separate from our Assurance Programme. You would be expected to remain within the Assurance Programme for the duration of the Programme, but we of course encourage networking with different teams and colleagues at EY. It may be case that an opportunity opens up for you to work with different teams after you complete your Graduate Programme.

Hi Kate, is the Forensic Technology & Discovery Service Graduate Programme located in the Forensic & Integrity subservice line of Assurance? I understand the Assurance service line also encompasses Financial Accounting Consulting Services, Audit, IFRS Technical Resources.

Is the Assurance Graduate Programme primarily an audit focused programme or am I likely to experience work in the above subservice lines?

Hi Conall - yes the Assurance Graduate Programme is audit-focused, and you most likely wouldn't be doing a lot of work in the other areas of the business you referenced above. However, when you join EY you will be assigned what's called a "Counsellor" who will help you to develop and progress your career at EY. So if you are interested in gaining other experience, they will be a good person to speak to about how you might be able to make this happen at EY.

Perfect, thank you! Audit seems very interesting itself so I think I will see when I join, thanks for your time.
