Hi Gwen - here's a response from Aimme, who completed her Industrial Placement in Consulting this July. She will be joining EY on the graduate programme in September 2020:

I’ve been really happy with the amount of responsibility I’ve been given as other graduates on the grad programme. I’ve had collaboration with current team members and as an IP you always get involved in client site and the office team. I was put on client projects straight away. Since joining EY on the IP I’ve had 2 clients back to back and that’s given me great exposure to clients straight away and what it’s like working in the professional world.
I’ve really enjoyed my experience – something I definitely wanted to have was autonomy and responsibility but I wasn’t expected to have such a key role and exposure to deliverables early on, so that pleasantly surprised me. I found that what I contributed was really valued by the team and I’ve had the ability to make a large impact on both client work and the wider team.
There’s also lots of things to get involved aside from your day to day job responsibility. If there’s anything you’ve found interesting you can reach out to someone in the firm and they will give you the chance to get involved. I’m a member of the ACPCSR (Graduate CSR committee) – example activities: toy appeal and took them to childrens hospital and homeless shelter. Other graduates and I worked together to make this happen.
