Depends on the engagement! When you first join you'll be an associate within the team and you will learn about the fundamentals of audit. You start off going to learn and pass the first few exams, then you will return to the business. At this point, you'll be working with seniors on the team, understanding and assisting in completing audit procedures. For instance, you may be allocated an account and help ensure that all the cash balances for the entity is correct. Your work will then get reviewed by the senior and manager, leaving you comments to address and learn where to improve going forward :)

Hi, thanks for asking. It really depends on what period you are in the audit. At the start of the audit period, you will be conducting planning activities - scoping out your client to understand the type of entity you are auditing and the risks that come with it! After that, you will move onto walkthroughs, in your first year, you would support on these meetings, taking notes and improving your understanding. In your second year, you will be leading these meetings. Each one consists of understanding client systems, how each process works and how they mitigate any risks surrounding that. After that you will move onto interim and year end testing, where you will cross check evidence against what the clients are reporting. So this will involve finding transactions in bank statements, checking invoices are correct, etc.

Thanks Sam and Dasha, it's comforting knowing that the process is well supported.

Oh yes, well supported throughout. You are never alone! You'll also find that you have lots of other people in your intake that you can discuss questions with!
